Putting the Cards on the Table

There is a moment in a card game when it’s time to show what you’ve been holding. However you have been playing up until that point is no longer relevant because you are about to show everyone your hand. It is in that spirit we say:

We’ve been failing to create relevant content in this blog and it’s completely our fault.

Whew, kinda feels good to say it out loud.

We have been posting for almost a year and while we didn’t expect an audience that would pack a stadium, we thought at least a small movie theater.

We’ve tried different lead magnets, we’ve shared it with audiences through a variety of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). We’ve watched countless promo videos, we’ve read enough online articles to kill off a virtual forest, and we’ve asked for people to recommend us to anyone who would conceivably be interested. Yet we continue to languish in the single digits, leading us to believe we are not bringing enough value in these posts.

All of that said, to you who have signed up and loyally read (or at least look at) the weekly posts we’ve put up, we appreciate every one of you and do NOT take you for granted.

And in the tradition of the great theater “There are no small audiences, just small performers.” (See Mom, that theatre degree DID come in handy) We want to tailor our content to meet the needs of the type of folks who are here. Think of this as Christmas comes early, you can ask for whatever you want and, unlike Santa, your message doesn’t have to go through a bureaucracy of elves.

Thinking of the work that you do and struggles you have, when an email is coming to you once a week, what would you like it to include? What would REALLY help you? For example:

  • What type of incentives, giveaways, downloads, tools, deals would speak to you?
  • What type of posts tend to speak to you or interest you? What kind of posts would you be most likely to forward or recommend to someone?
  • Is there anything that we could do that would make it simpler for you to recommend our blog to someone?
  • Are there particular things you would like to see added to the posts (more tips, more puns, less puns, glimpses behind the scenes, success stories, failures, etc.)

Behind-the-scenes, we will continue to try and “crack the nut” of expanding our reach, but in the meantime we do want to make sure we get to know our current audience really well (but in a good, not creepy, way) to bring value to your inbox every week. Whatever thoughts you would like to share, either comment below or feel free to message us directly.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and we look forward to hearing from you.
